What was once a minimalist socialist-era family apartment in a 1960s apartment block has been transformed into a modern apartment for a female occupant. The apartment's small separate spaces were originally organized around a central corridor. During the renovation most of partition walls were removed so that the entire apartment functions as a single connected space with two separate areas: a social/living and a sleeping/working area. Design-wise the apartment is conceived as a modern and fresh 3D collage of colours and materials: oak parquet flooring; semi-transparent box containing bed, wardrobe and bookshelves, constructed in a pink metal mesh; kitchen block and desk with rhythmically alternating turquoise and mint plywood; deep red round dining table that represents the heart of the home. The entire composition of materials, colours and proportions creates a happy and relaxed ambience in an otherwise small space.
