The location of the cultural centre is in the centre of Šenčur, which is typologically very rural. The surrounding area is dominated by a typology of smaller, vernacular buildings and cluster housing. The competition proposal takes into account the characteristics of the area - the proximity of the square in front of the church, the picturesque views of the Alps and the location as an important traffic junction. The solution provides for two smaller and lower buildings, designed on the human scale of vernacular buildings. The multi-purpose hall with its supporting programme is located below ground level, thus relieving the site of its disproportionate built-up character. The two above-ground buildings are positioned in such a way as to create two new plazas, each with its own function and ambience. The positioning of the buildings is important for the micro-urbanisation of the new public space, and the entrances to the buildings are located in the strait between the buildings connecting the two squares. The library, set in the background, is divided into an administrative and a public part of the building. All three floors of the public part are interconnected by a multi-height gallery, creating an ambience of high architectural quality. The smaller and lower building is located next to the roundabout. It is designed as a transparent pavilion, housing the local exhibition space and the main entrance to the multi-purpose hall of the cultural centre. The design of the façade of the buildings follows the logic of local rural buildings. The façade is constructed of a concrete base, wooden beams and secondary slats, which are densified or thinned according to the programme behind them.

Axonometric view of the location
The placement of one building in the area would create two separate squares.
Positioning the two buildings creates two squares connected to the square in front of the church by a traffic calming zone.
The two volumes are close at the far corners where the covered entrances meet.
The two buildings open onto views of the Kamniško Savinjske Alps and the Church of St. George.
The multi-purpose hall is below ground, reducing the site's built-up character.
With the main part underground, two above-ground buildings can relate to the old center of Šenčur.
