The renovation of the former school canteen has transformed it into a new modern common space for Gymnasium students. The formerly dark, poorly ventilated and uninviting basement space has been designed as a school arts centre with different ambiences: a gallery, a café, an amphitheatre and a group seating area.

The whole branched basement space is designed as an abstract grey and white, exhibition area with large surfaces for school art exhibitions. One fragment of XL furniture is placed in each ambience, announcing the programme of the ambience through its form and appearance. The furniture elements are a tribune, a bench, an amphitheatre and a large table. This furniture is made of pine wood and takes inspiration from Japanese design - tactile and simple. The new design of the space aims to make users feel motivated, free and relaxed.
