The Celovška Apart-Hotel is located in the industrial zone along Celovška cesta in Ljubljana. The building's footprint is defined by the building limit, as well as the maximum floor area prescribed by the zoning plan for the site. In order to be able to meet or not exceed the urban planning factors, the building has been designed as an elongated terraced volume. This architectural design allows the building to open to the south, to provide green terraces for all the occupants/users and to allow sufficient light for the whole building. The building consists of apartments, a public bar and community programme, a service area for the adjacent building's trucks, and a basement garage. The public bar and common areas are all oriented to the south-west and this functional design is also reflected on the façade. The materiality of the building is based on the site itself. It is characterised by a visible concrete structure, designed as a continuous grid of circular concrete columns. The façade infill consists of glass surfaces and composite panels. The industrial appearance of the building is softened by green terraces on the south side and planters on the north side of the building. The green elements of the building play an important role in creating better living conditions in surrounding industrial zone.
